Morning News

Edmontonians start their weekdays with the Morning News team – Shaye Ganam and Jennifer Crosby (anchors), Mike Sobel (weather) and Daintre Christensen (traffic). Host Lorraine Mansbridge broadcasts live on location introducing audiences to interesting people, places and things happening in “Our City”.  Traffic reports live from Global 1 – Edmonton’s first and only television news helicopter – helps viewers plan the best route for their morning commute. The Morning News on Global Edmonton is Edmonton’s favourite morning news program delivering more than 3 times the audiences than the competition combined!

The Morning News broadcasts from 5:30am to 9am Monday to Friday.

Early News

Gord Steinke anchors the Early News on Global Edmonton giving viewers an in-depth look at local news and an early weather forecast with Chief Meteorologist, Nicola Crosbie. Audiences look forward to the special slice of life segments each week in this newscast including weekly movie reviews with Todd James. 

The Early News broadcasts from 5pm to 5:30pm.

News Hour

Edmonton’s most popular news team Gord Steinke, Nicola Crosbie and Kevin Karius serve up the supper hour newscast to a loyal audience weekdays from 6pm to 7pm. A full hour of local, national and international news stories and features with weather forecasts by Chief Meteorologist Nicola Crosbie and Sports coverage with Kevin Karius.

Established nightly features include Health Matters with Su-Ling Goh reporting on local medical advances, breakthroughs and inspiring stories and the Global Edmonton Trouble Shooter, Julie Matthews, revealing the latest scams and consumer recalls while protecting your hard-earned money so you don’t get ripped off.

The News Hour has been known to take its entire newscast “On the Road” on occasion – an unprecedented event that brings the excitement of a live newscast to live audiences in and around Edmonton.

The News Hour broadcasts Monday to Friday from 6pm to 7pm.

News Hour Final

News Hour Final is anchored by broadcaster Christina Salvo and features Night Watch - Edmonton’s only live reporter providing the most up to the minute wrap of the day’s events, plus weather reports with Duane English. Sports guy, Kevin Karius provides a comprehensive look at Sports – local, national, professional and amateur.

News Hour Final broadcasts Monday to Friday from 11pm to Midnight

Weekends

Global Edmonton has your weekend news covered with the NEWS HOUR at 6pm, followed by NEWS FINAL at 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Global News anchor, Carole Anne Guay takes viewers through the weekend with all the local, national and international headlines. Weather anchor, Duane English provides viewers with the weekend weather forecast and a look ahead at temperatures for the following week. Dean Millard rounds out the weekend newscasts with a comprehensive look at Sports – both amateur and professional.

The News Hour broadcasts Saturday and Sunday from 6pm to 7pm.

News Final broadcasts Saturday and Sunday from 11pm to 11:30pm

Global Weather

Wait five minutes and the weather will change! With Nicola, Mike, Duane and Kevin you’ll get more accurate weather forecasts, more often,  than on any other local station.

Meet the Global Edmonton Ground Force, an elite team of extreme weather spotters strategically selected to represent the weather hot spots throughout the province of Alberta. With professional training provided by Global Edmonton’s Chief Meteorologist Nicola Crosbie, and Environment Canada’s severe weather experts, the Ground Force has been equipped with digital cameras to capture and record weather phenomena in their regions. They regularly relay weather conditions to the Global Edmonton Weather Centre and will be called upon in extreme weather to give an accurate report of what is happening in their region. Exclusively on Global Edmonton, the Ground Force was created by Nicola Crosbie, to elevate our accuracy in “Nowcasting” (the forecasting of weather within the next six hours) and helps to build better forecasts for Albertans. Watch for the Ground Force – your eyes and ears on the ground – seven days a week only on Global Edmonton!
