For generations, Shaw has been committed to making a difference – enriching and improving the communities that we serve. Over the past 30 years, Shaw has donated millions of dollars towards a multitude of local organizations and in 1998 we formalized a grants program with the creation of the Shaw Charitable Donations Committee. At Shaw Media, we provide cash or in-kind support for thousands of organizations, causes and initiatives in the communities where we do business each day. The level and scope of this giving varies from running PSAs to providing significant financial support.

In 2011, we aired over 270,000 PSAs across the Global network and our 18 specialty channels. For local charities and community organizations from Vancouver to the Maritimes, this meant over $45 million dollars worth of advertising time for their causes.

In 2008, we introduced one of the largest benefits spending packages in Canadian media history – more than $150 million over seven years. We have allocated over $10 million for training and mentorship programs within the broadcasting industry; $1.4 million for media literacy programs; and more than $3 million to arts and diversity festivals from coast-to-coast.
